You, Sir are No James K. Polk

With apologies to Eric Foner, at least James K. Polk's deceptive and unprovoked war was successful. The United States succeeded in stealing a third of Mexico. George W. Bush's attempt to conquer a pathetically weak Middle Eastern country has failed utterly. I suppose that this supports Foner's overall conclusion, that George W. Bush will be ranked among the worst Presidents in American history.

Indeed, I suspect that this verdict won't even be terribly controversial in ten or fifteen years. If there's one thing that the right wing loathes it's a loser, and my guess is that not too many will hang around to hold candles for W: The Prez .
