The US military shot down a missile with a laser fired from a Boeing 747 this week, the first time an anti-missile system has destroyed a missile in its boost phase, according to media reports.

But far more importantly, in terms of potential human lives saved, is the coming revolution in laser warfare against deadly, plague-ridden mosquitoes. I'm not making this @&*# up.
